I was planning on doing something else today, but my plans got derailed by an email. I talk about the email in today’s OmegaShock post, here. And yes, you should read that post.
What I want to describe here on Israel Outlook, is a book written by the subject of the email, Richard Maybury. The name of the book is The Thousand Year War in the Mideast – How It Affects You Today.
I have lived in the Middle East for a decade and a half, analyzing everything I could find about the place, and I can truthfully say that the book is unusually accurate – while being subtly flawed.

I’m afraid that my sense of humor gets me into a lot of trouble. And, I like talking to Israelis, and I do that every chance I get. However, Israelis try very hard not to give themselves away, because YOU might be a terrorist. Unfortunately, for Israelis, it’s hard to hide nationality.
A few months ago I spoke to a number of Israelis here in Taipei, and got a number of responses:
“I only speak English” – in a thick Israeli accent.
“Are you talking to me?”

It’s not like you need any more reasons why Barack Hussein Obama needs to be thrown out of the Oval Office. His Jimmy Carter-esque nightmare of an administration should certainly drive you to vote for ANYONE else for president. (Which is not a good way to vote for someone.)
Well, here’s another reason.
Apparently, the Obama administration has advised the Palestinians to be good little boys and girls until AFTER he is re-elected, and then he’s promised to pull out the thumb screws and deliver Israel on a platter.
Isn’t that so typical? So, just Jimmy Carter/Bill Clinton/et al. ?

With the Egyptian vote.
This guy really needs a nursing home. It is truly hard to believe this.
How can you possibly be pleased with a vote that brings Islamic fundamentalism to power?
Would he have been pleased by the democratic process that brought Hitler to power?
I’m struggling to find words here. How do you express the absolute depth of this person’s complete and utter idiocy?
Tell you what. Why don’t read the article, while I go off into a corner and try to recover my equilibrium.
Really, I’m speechless.

How is THAT for distressing news?
It seems that Israel may be contemplating the discarding of a military option for dealing with Iran’s nuclear weapons program. This may be just an analysis of potential alternatives, or it could be a sign that Israel believes that there is no long term answer to Iran’s desire to acquire nukes – especially if they must ‘go it alone’.
It may also be an attempt by Israel to misdirect the world as to her intentions.
Whatever the case, it is unsettling to see Israel contemplating the possibility that no one will find a way to keep Iran from successfully testing a nuclear device.
