Truth About the West Bank

Would you believe that I’m finally on Facebook?

I can hardly believe it myself. I’m doing this pretty much against my will, but the seriousness of the situation has driven me to it. We’re in a lot of trouble, and if it helps to get to word out then I’ll join Facebook.

Somebody’s gotta make the tough sacrifices.

Well, after I signed up for Facebook, Aaron, a good friend in Jerusalem, sent me a link that illustrates some of the background to what we call the ’67 Borders’.

Price of Evil

In 1860, the population of the United States was 31,443,321. Three and a half million of that figure were slaves. About 625,000 men died in the war to end the despicable evil of slavery. That’s about 2% of the US population.

Think about that for a second.

Because we refused to end slavery in the 1700s, at the time of the founding of the United States, we were required to pay 2% of our population to end it almost a century later. We knew slavery was wrong. The US founding fathers knew it was wrong. They compromised by doing nothing, and our great-great-great grandfathers died.

I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever.

– Thomas Jefferson

The writer of the Declaration of Independence worried that the sins of the nation would bring God’s judgment upon them. In the case of Jefferson, it was the great evil of slavery that worried him. How long did it take for God to judge America for this great evil?

Just about a hundred years.

Have you ever tried to stand on broken legs?

You can’t.

It’s as if your legs have ceased to exist. You cannot stand on broken legs. You cannot use an arm that is broken. You can’t stand with a back that’s broken.

Without a foundation to work with, your muscles are useless, and your body is useless. And, if your bones are broken in a hostile environment, that ‘useless’ body is going to become someone’s lunch – unless you have someone with good bones to protect you.

On April 4th, it was my birthday, and like every other April 4th preceding it, I called my Dad because it was his birthday too. (Yup, I was born on my Dad’s birthday.) We talked for an hour and a half, and at the end of our conversation, my Dad said, “your mother and I watch the Glenn Beck show on the Internet.” I thought, “oh yeah, that Glenn Beck guy.” My Aunt and a couple other friends watch that show, too.
