To those of you who are perplexed by this discussion, I offer my sincere apologies. Think of my posts this week as a ‘Last Hurrah’ before moving this site onto a more ‘secular’ footing. Israel Outlook really is intended to be a global security and foreign policy site, and I am moving it back in that direction. The more religious discussions will migrate elsewhere, to a more appropriate forum.
Unfortunately, that ‘more appropriate forum’ doesn’t exist yet, and I feel an urgent need to address this issue.
Bear with me a little longer.

How’s THAT for name, eh?
It was coined by a rather intemperate fellow by the name of James Lloyd. And, he makes a cogent case for using the name, so I’ve decided to adopt it myself. It’s pithy, accurate and more than a bit snarky – which is why I like it.
(My apologies to my Jewish audience. But, I gotta do this.)
Now, I stumbled across Lloyd’s website because I was doing a bit of research into where the whole idea of the Pretribulation Rapture Theory arose. Sometimes, knowing where something comes from tells you a bit about what’s wrong with it.

And, I’m not completely sure how to deal with it – which is why I’ve been quiet for the past few days. I needed time to think, pray and stare blankly at the wall.
I’ve come to something of a conclusion – something of an adjustment of direction. But, let me get to the problem.
Most of my Christian audience is asleep. By contrast, my Jewish audience is wide awake and wondering when I’ll get to stuff that they don’t know about already. And, that’s just plain WRONG.

I know. You’re getting tired of this. I’ll get back to our regular programming tomorrow. And, I won’t drag you through the whole chapter this time. I’ll just cut to the conclusion.
In fact, I’ll tell you up front why Daniel 8 is so important:
Daniel 8 identifies the general location from where the false messiah (AKA The Antichrist) comes from – somewhere in Alexander’s empire, or more specifically one of the four areas of that empire ruled by Alexander’s generals. Whoever this nasty person is, he comes from there.
Yeah. It’s THAT intense.

You’d think that I’d get bored reading Daniel every year, but it’s just not possible. I am mesmerized every time I get to that book of the bible, and Daniel 7 is always one of the high points – which means that I just HAVE to tell you about it.
Part of the reason why this chapter is so completely fascinating is due to the fact that a lot of it has already happened. And, those prophecies that have turned out to be true? And, you’re only halfway through them?
Very, very cool.
