Doing Nothing with Iran

To give them some credit, the Obama administration could be involved in something so incredibly clever, we’ll gasp in awe when it unfolds.

Sure.

What’s bothering me is that we have known that Iran is the biggest threat to our existence since the end of the Cold War, and we seem to be doing absolutely nothing. We’re not even condemning Iran for gross violations of human rights. When the people of Iran took to the streets in 2009 to protest the theft of their elections, we did nothing. We said nothing.

Why?

Well, one reason is the incredible ineptness of the Obama administration in foreign policy. He dithered over Libya until after the rebels were in full retreat – instead of taking decisive action that could have broken the Libyan regime quickly. He vacillated over Egypt. He has alienated the only true ally that we have in the Middle East, Israel. And, he sits back and does nothing while Syria murders its own people.

But, let’s not stop there.

Remember when he sent the bust of Winston Churchill back to England? And, how about the time when he famously said that the French were our closest friends? And, how about the time when he chose to give a submissive bow to the King of Saudi Arabia? And, how about those guns his administration has been caught giving to the most blood thirsty drug gangs in Mexico, the Zetas.

If I didn’t have proof that it couldn’t be true, I’d wonder if Barack Obama wasn’t a reincarnation of the man who made the Iranian Revolution possible – Jimmy Carter.

It makes me wonder. Is he doing it on purpose? Does have this really clever trick that will allow him to pull it off at the end? Is he stupid? Maybe he has a mental condition?

I don’t know.

What I do know is that the Iranian regime continues to pose an existential threat to the United States and Israel, and the Commander in Chief of the United States of America appears to have done nothing when he should have. And he continues to appear to be doing nothing.

We now know that the 2009 demonstrations were the biggest threat ever faced by the Iranian regime and came close to bringing down the Iranian government. Where was the US when Iran brought in Hezbollah to shoot demonstrators?

We did nothing.

Michael Ledeen writes an informative article on the subject in Pajamas Media, titled:

Faster Please!

He ends his piece with a quote from Hillary Clinton on why the Obama administration doesn’t seem to be doing anything about the terrible repression of Syrian people. From Michael Ledeen’s article:

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, when asked why the United States has not yet called for Syria’s president to step down, said Washington wants other nations to add their voices, according to an interview by the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley released on Thursday.

I’m sorry. There’s nothing clever going on here. It’s just old fashioned incompetence.
