It’s not that the Western World CAN’T seem to do what they need to do; it’s that they just don’t want to. Western societies just do not want to do what needs to be done to keep themselves safe and secure.
Why?
Corruption.
Laziness.
Greed.
Ignorance.
Those qualities have plagued civilizations since from before history recorded such things.
But, I think that there’s something more at work here – something that’s a bit more than ‘just more of the same’. There seems to be this fantastic new religion sweeping the globe, and I call it the ‘cult of the goodness of humanity’.

Sometimes they take longer to do it than others, but generally they always end. And, they always seem to end in a certain way: they get sloppy and decadent – before being taken down by ‘the barbarians’ – whoever they are. It is a classic formula that every major civilization seems to want to follow.
I was reminded of this a couple of days ago while watching a documentary on life in prison in the US. I was appalled. I could not believe what I was seeing.

Yes, there were acts of terror around the world before the 1960s, but there wasn’t an international network of terrorists before the PLO came along. With the help of the Saudis and the Soviet Union, the PLO was able to connect the IRA, Baader-Meinhoff, Japanese Red Army, and a host of other two-bit terrorist organizations to create a clearing house for terrorist ‘goods and services’.
These terrorist organizations traded expertise, ‘services’ and good ol’ cash. That’s why you got the Japanese Red Army murdering civilians at Lod Airport on May 30, 1972.

It’s called Reassessing US-Israel Relations, and it reminds me of the most brilliant purveyor of cynical foreign policy that the world has ever known: Henry Alfred Kissinger. I don’t know if Henry was responsible for this latest bit of insanity, but whoever authors Obama’s foreign policy certainly was following in his footsteps.
And, it is one of the dumbest moves in a history of dumb moves.
