ITEOTW – Big Brother on the Move

We interrupt our normally scheduled programming to bring you an ITEOTW update.

ITEOTW update?

That’s right, It’s The End Of The World, and we have an update for ‘ya!

It seems that our big brother in Washington D.C. is working overtime to bring you into the warm embrace of monitoring and control. Here’s an excerpt from the InformationWeek article:

White House Preparing National Online ID Plan

The proposed system for authenticating people, organizations and infrastructure on the web at the transactional level will require an identity ecosystem.

There is only one thing that you CAN do when people make bad choices. You need to let them experience the results.

The Universe is a difficult and unforgiving place. Every cause has an effect. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. If you try to break this ‘law of causality’ you are going to get hurt. And, if you don’t teach causality to your children, THEY are going to get hurt.

What Do You Do?

So, what do you do when a democratic country goes bad? What happens when they make choices that turn them into a threat to your survival?

Just because your neighbor is a democracy doesn’t mean that you can automatically trust them. For instance, what if your country lived next to a bunch of people who routinely dumped radioactive gas into the air every time the wind was blowing in your direction? Or, maybe your democratic neighbor believed in stealing anything that wasn’t nailed down in YOUR country – and taking it to theirs. Or, maybe this democratic neighbor worshipped war and violent death, and continually did the best that it could to murder as many of your citizens as possible.

Sloppy and Decadent, Part 4

People think that our current form of democracy was invented for the purpose of giving us freedom.

If you think like that, you’re wrong.

The purpose of democracy was to change governmental power often, while making it accountable to the people. The founders of the American political system (and many of the European systems) knew that you had to throw out your government when it started to get too comfortable and grow fuzzy.

Why?

Because power is incredibly delicious and corrosive, and you can’t let people get addicted to it. Otherwise, you will eventually have to shoot them. I hate shooting people, so any political system that keeps us from having to do that is great.

Sloppy and Decadent, Part 3

No one wants to believe that the Palestinians are ignorant, vile and corrupt.

Even I don’t want to believe it. I struggled with myself to even get the above sentence out, but I cannot escape the truth of it. How can ANYONE be this bad? How can ANY group of people consistently support leaders who siphon off desperately needed aid into Swiss bank accounts?

It boggles the mind.

In fact, it boggles the mind so much that we instinctively believe that the ‘other side’ (Israel) must be at fault. To believe otherwise would require coming face to face with the fact that human beings are basically awful.
