There were some interesting comments posted on my last article, so it’s time to talk about the economics of Terrorism – Economics 101, the terrorist version. (Thanks everyone for stepping up to comment!)
By the way, I’m going to keep this short, ‘cuz it’s Saturday, and I have a miserable cold.
oy.
Where was I… oh, yes…
We actually hafta start with religion, because that is what gets the terrorist organizations going in the first place.

Every time I see the price of oil (and the price of Gas) go up, there is only one thought that comes to mind:
The increase in terrorism.
It wasn’t that long ago when the price of oil hovered at, or below, $17 a barrel. It is now more than a HUNDRED dollars a barrel.
Have you noticed how the threat of war and terrorism has increased as the price of oil increased?
I have.

I always look at my previous post to see if I need to add anything else - anything that would help add depth to a person’s understanding. So, when I looked at Friday’s post, I thought:Â
You know, there really IS something missing – something that I need to add.
However, it impacts someone else, and I’m always reluctant to mention anything personal that could negatively impact another person. I’m not against it, mind you – just reluctant.
For instance I started out Friday’s post, with:

I was talking to someone that I am very close to, when an email came in from a friend in Jerusalem. Among other things, my friend wrote:
we are still hysterical about last night…my roey who is five called so upset…they live up the street from sharey zedek and the ambulances were screaming by…and that is his world…yeshivahs etc
Eight dead and eleven injured.
In Israel, even little boys know what the sirens mean.
You count them.
If you get too many, it’s a terrorist attack. And, if you live near a major hospital, like little Roey, you grow up hearing ambulances and counting sirens.

You know, when you have people like Magda reading your stuff, you gotta be on your toes.
I did a bit of checking and there IS a US Aircraft Carrier sitting off the coast of Israel and, by now, might actually be off the coast of Lebanon – but over the horizon.
But, it’s not an Aircraft Carrier Battle Group. It’s a Strike Group.
Smaller aircraft carrier.
Fewer ships.
Lots of Marines.
Still generates anxiety – but without the same level of dread.Â
