ANOTHER Personal Note

Okay, enough is enough.

The server and database errors for this site, and for my other sites, have become intolerable. Actually, they were intolerable a long time ago, but I just wasn’t able to really devote the time and effort to switch over to a new set of servers.

Now the errors have piled up even higher.

Not good.

REALLY not good.

Which is why I will be switching this website over to a new set of servers managed by HostMonster (www.hostmonster.com). Sometime between now and Monday afternoon my websites will have a new home.

So, all these suicide bombers are blowing themselves up to get ‘saved’, right?

Well, it’s a bit more than that.

Remember that piece I did on my friend, the assassin? Well, here’s a quote from it:

However, this little boy had been hired by Hamas to murder Palestinians who supported Israel, and he was also very good at his job. And, as long as this little boy killed for them, Hamas allowed his parents and siblings to live in a nice house – with all that a family like that needed.

I know that ‘Getting Saved’ doesn’t really fit within any classical idea of economics, but then again, terrorism doesn’t either. And, I really want to bang on this drum one more time because it’s a vital point that no one seems to be getting.

I don’t have kids, so what I’m about to say is pretty theoretical. But, I can IMAGINE wanting my kids to go to heaven. I mean, we would ALL like our kids to have life after death, right? You want your kids to have a good life? Well, what could be better than being sure that your kids have a great ETERNAL life?

Quite a Tale

Magda raised a good point, as she does with rather disconcerting regularity.

The Roman Catholic Church HAS had a violent history. In fact, I suspect that its history has been even MORE violent than Islam’s history. However, I don’t believe that this actually points to the error of fundamentalism.

I just think that it points to the error of error.

Let me put it this way.

The Catholic Church suffers from some fatal flaws. (Flaws, by the way, shared by Islam). These flaws were built into the organization at its inception.

There was this period of silence earlier this week, and I feel the need to explain.

It started Monday afternoon with a phone call to my sister, informing her that I’m getting married to Kwei. Becky got all excited and asked me how it was done…

When I told her that it involved a train and cell phones, her response was…

“I can’t believe that you proposed to her that way.”

You could hear “YOU DORK” tacked on the end of that sentence, but she was too nice to say it.
