I have this new theory that being born in April confers added wisdom and intelligence. It’s either that, or being born in 1967. Or, maybe it’s both.

The source of this hypothesis is Joel C. Rosenberg; who, like me, was born in April of 1967.

Better yet, he says stuff that I say. In fact, he says it better than I do, which is a terrible blow to my self-esteem.

Worse, he isn’t a professional writer, yet he has managed to write five books, and have them published. AND, he’s made the New York Times best seller list. (I think that I’m going to be embarrassed.)

In my last post, I said that It Ain’t Gonna’ Happen.

Can there be anything more frustrating than to see unquestionable disaster march toward you and find that the people responsible for averting disaster are doing nothing?

You scream yourself hoarse that the world is going to end, and no one does anything?

Six million Jews died in concentration camps because no one did anything. African-Americans had more melanin in their skin, so millions of them suffered horribly because no one did anything. Rwandans and Sudanese and Armenians and Ukrainians and American Indians were massacred by the tens of millions because we did nothing.

So, how do we stop this ‘Genocidal Answer’ that I wrote about yesterday?

I don’t know.

Russia would love to have Israel out of the way, but they really don’t hate Israel. They’re indifferent. Destroying Israel would just be business. No hard feelings.

And, don’t point the finger at Putin. He doesn’t necessarily hate Israel. He’s just doing what he thinks is best for Russian interests.

Magda raised an interesting question. How can Israel oppose Russian interests?

The answer is that she doesn’t. Not directly.

It’s that ‘not directly’ part that’s the problem. You see, Russia wants to rebuild a power base. It can’t have its old power base, ‘cuz Europe has most of it. So, it needs to look elsewhere for client states.

Unfortunately, the only client states that are free at the moment are in the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa.

I remember the Cold War – a war that was all about defeating Communism wherever it existed. There were books printed that said things like, “You can trust a Communist to be a Communist”. And, we bought the books and heard the speeches, waved the flag and utterly missed the point.

The point should never have been about political ideology, but about the character of the people brandishing the ideology. In our rush to defeat Communism, we forgot that the Russians have always been makers-of-empire. Always.
