A Stolen Youth

The tragedy of the Middle East rolls on, and it has its source in what Arab leaders have done to their own people. They’ve lied to them. They’ve stolen from them. They’ve consigned them to lives of drudgery and grinding poverty. They’ve abused them.

Worse, they’ve destroyed their own children.

On June 29, 2007, Palestinian TV broadcast on a popular children’s show, the murder of a favorite children’s character: Farfour, a Mickey Mouse-like character. The adorable little girl, who is the show’s presenter, ends the show with this statement:

Saraa, child host: Yes, my dear children, we have lost our dearest friend, Farfour. Farfour was martyred while defending his land, the land of his fathers and his forefathers. He was martyred at the hand of the criminals, the murderers, the murderers of innocent children, who killed Iman Hijo, Muhammad Al-Dura, and many others.

Now, just a few days ago, they’ve created a new character for children to watch, Nahour the Bee. Here’s the dialog from the same children’s show, featuring Nahoul the Bee, which aired on July 13:

Saraa, child host: Who are you, and where did you come from?

Nahoul the Bee: I am Nahoul.

Saraa: Nahoul who?

Nahoul: I’m Nahoul, Farfour’s cousin.

Saraa: What do you want?

Nahoul: I want to continue the path of my cousin Farfour.

Saraa: How do you want to do this?

Nahoul: I want to be in every episode with you on the Pioneers of Tomorrow show, just like Farfour. I want to continue in the path of Farfour – the path of Islam, of heroism, of martyrdom, and of the mujahideen. Me and my friends will follow in the footsteps of Farfour. We will take revenge upon the enemies of Allah, the killer of the prophets and of the innocent children, until we liberate Al-Aqsa from their impurity. We place our trust in Allah.

Saraa: Welcome, Nahoul…

How can there be ANY hope for peace in the Middle East with these kinds of programs airing on Palestinian TV?

After 14 years of living in Israel, I have NEVER seen any kind of program on Israeli television like this. Israeli television goes out of its way to produce programs that foster peaceful attitudes among Israeli children.

What the Palestinian leadership has done to Israel is despicable and infuriating. But, what they have done to their own children is far worse.

They dare to speak about Israel with such self-righteousness and indignation, while they steal the future of their children and enslave them to their own political ambitions.
