Sorry about yesterday’s deafening silence. My Little sister is home from the hospital, and she needed her older brother to play chauffeur and maid and food heater and…
However, I was paid a great accolade. My sister told mom that I should be called ‘the baby whisperer’. Maybe it’s just that I love Little things and Little things love being loved.
Dunno.
Anyway, that was yesterday.
Today, we’re back to dealing with the muck and yuck of the world. Specifically, the muck rakers, the journalists.

Carol just sent me an email with an interesting article written by Paul Marek, who writes a blog here:
http://cjunk.blogspot.com/
Anyway, the article that is interesting is this one:
http://cjunk.blogspot.com/2006/02/why-peaceful-majority-is-irrelevant.html
It’s a bit more than a year old, but absolutely timeless. I’ll give you a couple paragraphs from his blog entry, and ask you to go and read the rest yourself.

I’ve been listening to the radio a lot. In fact, it’s second only to print as my favorite source of news.
Hardly a day has goes by without something about the Virginia Tech shootings, and I’ve been letting all this wash over me – ruminating, thinking.
I just can’t help comparing recent events to my experience in Israel. I’ve had my neighborhood shot at every day for a year. I’ve had a bus blow up just down the street from my apartment. My brother escaped death or serious injury by being late for a Karate lesson. I’ve arrived early to the office, in time to see the smoke of yet another massacre rise just a few blocks away.

I have been contemplating evil. I think that anyone remembering the Holocaust, and watching the news about the Virginia Tech shootings will be contemplating such things.
We have a lot of descriptions of Evil, and every person has their own private definition. But, none of those descriptions really reach the heart of what Evil is – where it comes from. Our definitions merely point to signs and symptoms – the doing of Evil.
When asked where Evil comes from, most of us will say the obvious: hatred, anger – and variations on those two feelings. But, where do those feelings come from?

A friend of mine, Krina, sent this to me on Holocaust Memorial Day:
Schools drop Holocaust lessons to avoid offence
by Alexandra Frean
Teachers are dropping controversial subjects such as the Holocaust and the Crusades from history lessons because they do not want to cause offence to children from certain races or religions, a report claims.
A lack of factual knowledge among some teachers, particularly in primary schools, is also leading to “shallow†lessons on emotive and difficult subjects, according to the study by the Historical Association.
