Because It Just Wasn’t Expedient

We like to think that previous generations were more morally pure – that our politicians were more apt to do the right thing. (And that WE were more apt to do the right thing.)

So, why did we, in the name of expediency, throw Czechoslovakia to Hitler’s wolves, in an attempt to placate him?

Why did we allow Hitler to support Franco in his bloody takeover of Spain?

Why did it take the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor for America to get involved in the fight against Nazi Germany?

I’ll tell you why.

We did none of those things for the exact same reasons why we don’t invade Sudan and stop the killing in Darfur.

We did none of those things for the same reasons why we allow corrupt leaders in Africa to prosper and abuse their people.

We did none of those things for the same reasons why the world pressures Israel to place its life on the line, each and every time there is a peace agreement with the corrupt leaders of the Arab world.

Because it just wasn’t expedient.
