Ahmadinejad has had a setback. I know that you are upset by this, and believe me. I feel your pain.
Local council elections in Iran have sent a message to the Iranian president that he needs to straighten up and fly right (or, at least a bit more to the left).
True, local council elections don’t have direct impact on the Iranian government, but they are generally a good indicator of a shift in the mood of the average Iranian voter.
What are they upset about?
Well, in the imortal words of our boy Bill, “It’s the economy, stupid!”

Hamas and Fatah have come to an agreement. Their representatives sat around a table, wrote up a document and signed it.
Peace in our time.
How depressing.
It reminds me of mob bosses coming together to agree that shooting each other is a bad idea. If I had been a Palestinian, I would have been ashamed that this kind of thing was necessary.
But, it’s not just a Palestinian problem. These kinds of meetings happen all the time in the Arab world. We don’t hear much about them, because Arab governments are repressive, and newspapers tow the government line.

I’m not good with subtexts.
I think that it’s a guy thing.
I’m not married, and don’t even have a girlfriend, but I know that most guys live in terror of questions like: ‘Do you love me?’
or: Do you think that my hips look too wide?
or: Do you notice anything different about me?
My answer, of course, would be: Yes, I love you VERY much. Your hips DOÂ look too wide. And NO, I did NOT notice anything different about you.Â
(Which is probably why I am not married and still single.)

Tonight marks the beginning of Chanukah.
It commemorates a miracle, a miracle in which the Ne’er Tamid (eternal flame or eternal light) was lit, and remained lit for eight days – even though there had been barely enough oil for one day.
It’s a great story, and I’m in to celebrating miracles like that.
But, Chanukah actually represents an even greater miracle. It represents the victory of Israel over her oppressors, and it also represents a reaffirmation of God’s favor towards the Jewish people. It’s a symbol of God’s choice of a chosen people, and THAT is something to really celebrate.

It continues to amaze me that there are those that deny that the Holocaust ever happened.
I know. It’s a defect in my ability to believe. Stupidity and foolishness is woven throughout human history, so I shouldn’t be so surprised.
Deep down, I guess that I just want to believe better things of my fellow man.
(sigh)
Anyway, the Iranians have been running a conference on re-examining the scientific evidence that the Holocaust ever happened.
The denial of the pain and suffering of an entire people is so sick… I just have no words to express the revulsion that I feel.
