One of my favorite quotes comes from the Bene Gesseret in one of my favorite novels, Dune, by Frank Herbert:
Fear is the mind killer.
When fear takes over, your mind turns off. And, when your mind is turned off, you do things that you would not normally do.
Hitler used fear to stir up hatred against the Jews, and six million Jews died. The Ottomans used fear to mobilize the people and the army, and 1.5 million Armenians died. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheik al Husseini, used fear to ignite the Arab Israeli conflict, and tens of thousands died.

Does it matter that Jews and Christians don’t understand each other?
Not only does it not matter… but, it’s the way that religious belief works. Different faiths are SUPPOSED to be mutually incomprehensible.
It’s the law.
It is natural to believe that anyone who disagrees with YOUR faith is WRONG – with all the associated penalties that apply. (you’ve been warned!)
That’s why my Jewish friends think that I’m nuts – as nuts as I think THEY are. Am I offended by this?
Nope.
Are they?
I hope not.

Most of you know that I am a Christian.
Some of you know what kind.
A few of you are frustrated because I do not make reference to my religious convictions in this blog.
I have good reasons for why I do not emphasize my beliefs here, and one day I may go into them.
But, like I said, I’m a Christian. A Christian living in Israel for 14 years. That loves the Jewish people – especially those who live in Israel. I represent a truly tiny minority here in Israel.

Okay, I think that I’m on the upswing.
I think.
All of that depends on how good today’s blog goes. We’ll see.

Hi Everyone,
Sorry about not posting for such a long time. I’ve been feeling so sick over the past few days that I couldn’t even THINK about laying a finger to my keyboard.
I’m not quite out of the woods yet, but I’m working on it.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings.
See you soon!
