A few minutes ago, I was thinking about what to write here. Suddenly, a PowerPoint presentation appeared in my inbox that showed what was purported to be an example of a child being punished – Islamic style.

I was so shocked that I sent the presentation on to a few friends, and prepared to communicate my horror here.

But, a little warning light went on in the back of my mind, and I decided to run a background check on that PowerPoint presentation. Sure enough, it was a hoax. You can see the description here:

Happy Birthday Israel!

Independence Day is one of the best holidays on the Israeli calendar. You get a day off from work, and the buses still run.

Of course, it’s more than that.

Every time we observe the independence day of the Jewish state in the land of Israel, it’s a celebration. After more than 2000 years, a nation has been miraculously brought back to life. Even though it is a pariah, it thrives. She is surrounded and outnumbered by enemies – yet, she prospers.

Memorial Day

As I write this, we are minutes away from the first siren, of the first memorial service for those who fell defending Israel. Throughout the country, in every field and village and city, we will stand at attention for a minute and remember those who gave their lives so that the Jewish people would have a homeland in Israel.

I don’t need to go into the rightness of Israel’s cause. You’ll hear that ad nauseum at another time.
