I just finished reading an incredible book.
Why Marriages Succeed or Fail by John Gottman, Ph.D.
The book is the result of 20 years of scientific study into what makes marriage last. After studying more than 2000 couples, he has discovered some very interesting bits of information.
Some of it is common sense. Some of it is a sense that is less common.
Here’s a bit of that less common sense. Dr. Gottman discovered an equation that directly impacts on the survivability of a marriage. I’ll let him describe it in his own words:

Talking about barbarians yesterday has gotten me thinking about barbarism.
That got me thinking about 9/11, which got me thinking about airline hijackings (skyjacking), which got me thinking about the PLO.
Capice?
Now, it’s true that the PLO didn’t invent the idea of skyjacking. People have been hijacking vehicles since the invention of the horse. People have been hijacking aircraft since 1931, when rebels skyjacked a Pan Am plane flying out of Peru.
So, no. They didn’t INVENT the idea. They just made it work as a political tool. They were the first to make it successful.

As I sit here writing this, the BBC has just broadcast a report from Palestine Square in downtown Gaza City. The conditions in Gaza are terrible.
But, one of the residents interviewed there mentioned something interesting. He said that the economic problems have increased tensions to the point where Palestinian factions are shooting at each other over the smallest provocation.
Think about this for a moment. Economic difficulties are causing people to shoot at each other. When was the last time that you heard of Americans shooting at each other over national economic problems? When was the last time that you saw Britons shooting at each other over national economic problems? When was the last time that you saw Israelis shooting at each other over national economic problems?

I thought that I would take a break from beating up on poor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and declare a one day truce. I’m sure that he’s feeling a bit abused, so it’s only fair to sharpen my pen on someone else.
He still won’t like what I have to say, but you can’t please everyone.
Well, I just talked to a friend a few moments ago, and she sent me some pictures of the February 3rd demonstration outside the Danish embassy in London. Then I found a few more from Sun Online and the BBC.

Those of you that know me, know that I am not an alarmist.
Oh, I have my moments.
I get annoyed when I leave the milk out all night. I’ll get a Little freaked out when a friend says that they have cancer.
And, I DO get alarmed when a bomb goes off down the road. I have pictures.
So, I’m not really an alarmist, except that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is worth getting alarmed over.
He is a charming fanatic who happens to run a country that will soon have nuclear weapons. And, he follows a religion that believes that military conquest is an acceptable form of ‘godliness’.
